Aline D. Wolf

Aline D. Wolf has made the education of children the focus of her work throughout her adult years. Her efforts stemmed from her own life as a parent of nine children.

When she and her husband became frustrated with the educational process in their area, they worked together to introduce what was then a fairly new method of education–the Montessori Method.

Modern Interpretations of Montessori

At that time, Montessori’s works were not well known in the U.S., were poorly translated and full of repetition. Aline wanted to share with other American parents the gems of wisdom she discovered in Montessori’s writings, so she interpreted the words of Montessori in smoother English and combined them with modern photographs. The result was a groundbreaking book titled A Parents’ Guide to the Montessori Classroom that has sold over 650,000 copies.

Widely recognized as a renowned modern interpreter of Maria Montessori’s philosophy and methods, Aline’s publications through Parent Child Press have provided innovations on Montessori’s original work–particularly in art appreciation and nurturing the spirit of children. She cites her book, Nurturing the Spirit in Non-Sectarian Classrooms, as her most significant accomplishment to date, because the pivotal work has influenced not only the Montessori movement worldwide, but also many teachers in non-Montessori schools.
