High in the Andes, the villagers of Cochas Chico keep the indigenous art of gourd decorating alive — by making these uniquely beautiful instruments. First, lines are cut into the dried gourds. Next, artists carefully burn the surface to add color and bring designs to life. Durable, with pleasant, musical sounds reminiscent of a rainstick.
Exceptionally well-made in Peru and imported by Jamtown, a member of the Fair Trade Federation. Gourds are approximately 3" at widest point x 7" long. Individual shakers sold separately--each shaker is unique! Includes information card. Ages 3 and up.
Please note: This item has changed from the image shown. It no longer has a wooden handle. Instead, the gourd is longer and narrower so that the end is the handle. We think you will like this new version.
