Individual language objects, like "melon" can be used for a variety of language and sound games.
Objects are selected for the kind of word they represent: 3- and 4-letter phonetic words, 2-syllable phonetic words, words with phonogram sounds, or for the beginning sound of the word they represent.
The "melon" is about 1" long made of painted wood. You may receive a whole watermelon, a half melon, or a slice of watermelon. Design is assorted.
