Today we would be surprised to see adult-size desks in a classroom. When Montessori realized that child-size classroom furniture would enhance learning, it was a ground breaking idea. Much later, during her stay in India, Montessori used the East Indian “chowki” (low stool) as tables for children. With their 9" and 12" high tabletops, these two floor tables offer similar benefits. The surface of the Large measures 24" x 18" and the Small is 17" x 13". Children can write or draw while sitting comfortably on the floor. Tables expand classroom workspace and help keep the work out of harm’s way; both sizes offer teachers presentation surfaces at the child’s level. From L.O.R.D. Company.
