After children become familiar with atoms and elements, they are ready to classify matter. Sixteen picture cards represent two main categories of matter, pure substances and mixtures, in four groups: chemical elements, compounds, homogeneous mixtures, heterogeneous mixtures. The child places picture cards on the plastic chart (18" x 32"), using the information on the back of the card as the control. The picture cards can also be sorted under six label cards 2¼" x 4½") that duplicate the text on the chart. Background information and lesson suggestions are included for the teacher. Cards (3½" x 3¼") are in full color and laminated.
