Part of Child-Size Masterpieces program, this book of 35 postcard-size reproductions of paintings will introduce children to five modern schools of art (7 images from each school) and includes 9 folders for organization and storage. Chosen to appeal to young children, the paintings represent Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Cubism, Surrealism, and Abstract Art, as well as some of the artists commonly associated with each of these styles.
The reproductions in this volume were selected for Steps 6 and 7 of the Child-Size Masterpieces program. A brief description of the program and more specific instructions for Steps 6 and 7 are included. A complete overview of the entire Child-Size Masterpieces program is carefully explained in the How to Use Child-Size Masterpieces for Art Appreciation (A108)
Learning about the Schools of Art (Step 6) introduces children to the schools of art and discusses details of the paintings. Grouping Paintings from the Same School of Art (Step 7) presents activities for sorting and grouping paintings into the various schools.
This set is appropriate for children who can read and have already completed Steps 1 – 5 of the Child-Size Masterpieces program.
Reproductions are labeled with the artist name on the front and have a short biographical introduction of the artist and a description of the painting on the reverse.
Reproductions are printed on heavy varnished cardstock. To make cards, cut out the 4¾" x 6½" images and laminate, if desired.
