The Time Line of Early Humans

This beautiful, hand-colored Time Line shows the story of the human journey from the end of the Pliocene (the advent of our hominid ancestors) to the beginning of the Holocene, ending at the Bronze Age. Key events, such as the uses of fire and hand tools are correlated with physiological development, such as the emergence of H. sapiens and the disappearance of H. neanderthalensis.

This set includes a beautifully hand-colored, laminated control (in Panel or Mural styles), two sets of Companion Cards, and teacher’s resource booklet.

The control is sized to fit real classroom walls, just under 7 feet long. The Mural style control (EM832, 20&frac;12" x 86") may be mounted on a wall to give the overall impression of time. The Panel style (EM830, three panels measuring 20&frac;12" x 29" each) may also be wall-mounted, plus children can bring a single panel to their work area when exploring a specific era. Companion Cards are the primary research material to support children’s exploration of early humans, and reflect up-to-date research. Two sets of 48 cards each are included, one control set and one with labels. Cards with labels measure 5½" square. The colorful illustrations and informative text of the topic cards are keyed to the Time Line. Resources in the Teacher’s Booklet include presentation methods and expanded Time Line references and their sources. Booklet is unbound. All set materials are based on recent (2003) research.
