This organized, yet flexible early phonics system gives children the independent practice they need for learning the sounds of the English alphabet. Classroom-tested, this systematic approach also aids the teacher in keeping track of each child’s progress.
The 20 consonant letter cards and 150 picture cards are divided among six boxes, creating six different sorting exercises. Each labeled box contains a carefully selected group of consonants that are dissimilar in sound and shape. With each box, match the consonant letter cards to the corresponding Sandpaper Letters. Then sort the picture cards according to their initial sound. After sorting, say the name of each picture. This oral repetition of each initial sound reinforces the child’s awareness of that sound in association with the visual letter.
Picture cards (2" x 2½") and letter cards are in full-color and laminated. Lesson plans are included.
